Many years ago, in a place far away, I was born the oldest of 4 children, and the only
girl. The start of a great adventure! Years later an unexpected gift of a manual SLR
camera led to a love affair with light! I love quirky Boho
clothing, coffee, dogs of all kind (but the bigger the better), wildflowers, the ocean,
wildlife, travel, adventure and laughter. Adventures abound, as I have lived in many places, including sub-saharan Africa,
Alaska and California to name a few. Juneau Alaska is currently where I make my home with my partner Mike and my dog Max. We are surrounded daily by some of the most beautiful country around and it is my honor to share that with you. Welcome to my world! I am glad you are here. My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Look closely at the first image. Those little dark specks aren’t birds — they’re mosquitoes. Lots of mosquitoes. 😂

Mosquitoes are definitely part of summer in Southeast Alaska, and you might be surprised how often I have to remove them from my landscape images.

Consider this a little word to the wise if you’re planning a summer Alaska adventure: bring the bug spray.

And apparently, around here, even the road signs know what you’re up against. 😂

Do you have a memorable bug story from one of your own adventures? Share it below.

“Where the Sea Meets the Forest”

📸 ©️ Laura Dooley

“Where the Sea Meets the Forest” has become one of the favorites from my Bears Lair () display, and several of the signed prints have already found homes.

It was photographed here in Southeast Alaska, where forest, mountains, and water seem to constantly meet — and it remains one of those scenes that feels very much like home to me.

The large brushed metal print (seen in the second image) at the Bears Lair gives the image a completely different presence, catching the light and bringing out the textures and layers in the landscape.

The large metal artwork and signed prints are both on display at downtown throughout September. I would love to hear what you think of the brushed metal. Come back and let me know below.

I loved the way this white cosmos seemed to almost float against the soft green background — delicate, simple, and full of small details that are easy to miss at first glance.

One of the things I enjoy most about photographing flowers is slowing down enough to notice those little moments.

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by the Bears Lair () for First Friday! It was such a fun evening, and I loved getting to visit, talk about the work, and see so many familiar faces.

If you didn’t make it Friday, my work will be up at the Bears Lair throughout September. If you’re downtown this month, stop by and take a look in person. 💙

Thank you and .watcher for hosting me and for such a wonderful evening.

The change is afoot… After the blooms comes the cotton, and with it fall is looming. Leaving us with memories of summer and anticipation for winter on the horizon.

As summer begins to fade, the forest quietly changes too. Moss, berries, and deep shades of green remind me that every season has its own kind of beauty. 🍃❤️

Some of the smallest moments in nature are also the busiest. This little bee was hard at work, and for a few minutes, I had the privilege of watching. 🐝💜
