7/24/26 [1:00PM] Conditional storm risk
Here’s a look at the SPC risk categories for severe weather potentials. Since the next couple of days show potential for severe weather, but storm coverage and development is uncertain. I think it’s important to remember what happened on Lake Geneva. Unaware of the severe weather potential for that day (slight risk) and a tragedy happens. I covered those storms that day and to hear 3 lives lost was very saddening for me. If a storm can develop in the environment we have forecasted the next few days (moderate to high instability, and potent wind shear), it will not take much for a storm to intensify and become strong to severe rather quickly. It would be very easy for somebody to get caught off guard and put them in a bad spot, especially being the weekend with outdoor activities everyone has going on. That’s the whole point for these conditional storm risk, to keep everyone aware! I could really care less if storms fire as long as everyone is aware and prepared of what COULD happen on a given event. That’s why I have this page and have a passion for spreading the word on future weather events. Ask anyone that knows me I’m always the first one to tell them about severe weather, since I was a kid! Anyway rant over, I’ll have the Sunday storm potential posted later this afternoon.
