This photograph of Downtown Sutter Creek was taken between 1978-1980.

My question is, what happened to all the Bell Towers? There was one here in Sutter Creek, and also one in Jackson. Both are gone.

As far as I know, the Bell associated with the Tower in Jackson is now in Petkovich Park. But, what happened to Sutter Creek's Bell? Or the tower it once sat upon?

This building was once owned and operated by Morris Brinn, of the Brinn Inn, for his mercantile business. The building was also a Saloon, and later, an Italian Restaurant.

The Foxes Inn, or, Brinn House, was built around 1850 by John Davis. He was employed as a night-watchman at the Hand, Davis, and Jones Herbertville Gold Mine.

The House was purchased by Morris Brinn in 1865 from Davis. Brinn worked in the
mercantile business during this time, and for many years after. A fire in 1882 caused some major damage to the house, which was later repaired.

The structure is currently known as The Brinn Inn (as of 2024.)

Other names it went by: The Brinn House, and The Foxes Inn.

If you have any other information regarding this building, feel free to share. 😁👍

This is one of four different theatres built by John Ratto. Constructed in 1919, it was the only one of the four still standing, and in operation. Although, it's not the typical theatre any more. Concerts and theatre plays are staged here.
