Trans folks make this world a more beautiful place. They show us that our potential for self-expression and identity wildly surpasses the pre-destined roles our societies attempt to confine us to. They show us that nobody knows us better than ourselves. They demonstrate what it means to love and honor our authentic selves even when it is scary (and potentially dangerous) to do so. They are an example of courage, but they shouldn’t have to be. I am so grateful for all of the trans folks I’ve had the honor to create with, to learn from, and to be inspired by. To the trans and gender non-conforming people reading this: you deserve to be seen and celebrated for who you are, today, and always. I am so thankful you are here. You make the world a better place. This US administration cannot, and will not, erase you. You belong here, and you are so loved.

I’ll be out of service until Monday celebrating my love’s 25th birthday!!
Almost 12 years of loving you and I couldn’t be more proud of the man you have become. You are gentleness, strength, integrity, joy, humor and love. You are the brightest light in my life. Your constant nurturance makes the weight of the world less heavy on my heart. None of this would be possible without you by my side. What an honor it is to stand beside you as you continually flourish into authenticity and vulnerability. Happy birthday, my love. 💚

A lot of feelings went into today’s blog post, Finding meaning in an aching world:

“How is it that this existence holds equal parts splendor and horror?

It’s no secret that being alive can be fu***ng brutal. The softer your heart is, the easier it is to wound.
I have always been deeply sensitive. Equal parts enchanted and eviscerated. With a heart so open to love, inevitably exposing the most fragile corners of me to the pervasiveness of grief.
The world is riddled with injustices, with human rights violations, with loss, destruction and pain. So much bad news, endless confusion and personal entanglement in the systems causing harm. It all feels too heavy to bear sometimes…”

Hi babes! I just added a new tier to my pay-🌲-on where I will be sharing weekly blog posts/vlogs, accepting questions for a monthly Q&A video, and more! I just shared my first blog called “How my clients benefit from a Forest portrait session” along with the gorgeous gallery of Maggie! This tier is a great opportunity to pull back the curtain on my work and develop a better understanding of my work. This will also help alleviate some of my income stress that comes with the sporadic nature of bookings, so I can focus on sharing more art, writing and content with you all! Thank you SO much to all of my subscribers, I am forever grateful 🥹

And thank you, Maggie, for the absolutely perfect session and for allowing me to share it! I’ll never forget our time in the Forest 💚

This was one of those sessions that flowed so naturally. Olivia was completely in touch with Mother Nature during our session. I loved capturing them as they explored the Forest, full of giddiness and wonder. We finished our session with a nice, feral mud-smearing. Forever grateful for my incredible clients.

This session has made my list of all-time favorites for so many reasons. Sam and I exchanged a Forest Wander session + partial payment for a gorgeous, custom pair of fern earrings she made me.
We traveled together to the Mount Baker hot springs , my first primitive hot spring experience! We ate fruit and soaked in the spring that we had entirely to ourselves (admittedly, I didn’t last long. It was so hot!) and I photographed her. We then explored an adjacent hike and played around with the giant moss carpets on the Forest floor.
The pelt you see here was collected and preserved from a roadkill coyote Sam had found. When she showed him to me, I told her she had to bring him to our session! I really admire how she was able to give this creature new life, preserving his beauty in death.
Overall, I had such a wonderful time getting to know Sam, hearing all of the amazing and wild experiences she’s had in her very full life, capturing her and going on this adventure. Also, the earrings couldn’t be more perfect.
I absolutely love how this work brings the coolest, most interesting and down-to-Earth people into my life. I am so blessed! Thank you, Sam!!
