My first 2 gel prints after taking a couple of online classes with . I tried gel printing several years ago and it didn’t go well. Jane’s classes are great and I quite like these. I enjoyed the process because it’s fairly quick and I don’t have to think! Looking forward to doing more with some of the other techniques that she teaches.

I’ve been MIA the last couple of weeks because I ended up getting Covid and have felt wretched. I was basically in bed for the entire time we were in Spearfish. We have gone the whole time since Covid started and never had it and of course we both get it on our trip. And we haven’t been around any people! Anyways, I have some photos from Glacier that I will post in a few days. We’re leaving here today and spending a couple of days at Flathead Lake and then headed to Coeur d’Alene.

Painting an Airstream in an Airstream! This is a WIP. For the paintings that I do while traveling I think I’m going to make it a series. My husband suggested calling it “Art in a Can” and I kinda like that! Let me know in the comments what you think.

I recently joined because I wanted to learn how to work with acrylics. They have some Miniature Challenges which work great for me right now. The lessons are quick, and the subject is already decided for me. I have not painted landscapes in the past and most of these challenges are landscapes. So, I am learning to use acrylics, painting a lot of landscapes, and completing them quickly (which is great because it forces me to be loose). There have been a lot of struggles and frustrations, but I love a good fight, so I soldier on! This 6”x 6” is one of the first challenges that I did to begin to learn how the paint feels, how quickly it dries and how much more translucent it is than oils. FYI, oils are still my favorite and I have been sneaking in some time at my easel with them. Reference 📷 Jed Dorsey

Over the past year and a half, life has kept me quite busy for various reasons. I’ve been working on projects that allow for a quicker creative process and require less cleanup. These changes have allowed me to leave the studio at the end of the day with greater ease, making art a more accessible part of my life despite the busyness that surrounds me. In the coming weeks, I will be sharing some of these paintings with you. Meanwhile, this is my reward to myself after enduring 2 1/2 weeks on my sofa recovering from foot surgery!

What a beautiful state park in Kentucky. When I was planning this trip, I was looking for a stopover for a couple of days between two places we wanted to visit. I found Columbus Belmont State Park which is along the mighty Mississippi River. It’s so quiet and peaceful!
