Saturday and Sunday’s weather showed exactly how much the vendors you choose for your wedding matter.

For a lot of couples, the “vision” they had for their day quite literally got thrown out the window. Outdoor ceremonies moved inside. Portrait locations changed. Timelines shifted. Venues changing. Hotels evacuated. Tents being rented. Plans that had been made for months suddenly had to be figured out in real time. Even some wedding dates being moved.

But one thing has stuck out to me from every couple and vendor I’ve seen post from this weekend:

It still worked out.

Maybe not exactly how it was pictured. Maybe not according to the original plan. But everyone came together, adjusted, pivoted and made it work.

And suddenly, all of those little details that felt so important leading up to the wedding didn’t matter quite as much.

What mattered was that everyone was together. Everyone was safe. And two people still got to marry their person surrounded by the people they love most.

Your wedding doesn’t need to go perfectly to be perfect for you.

And having vendors in your corner who can adapt, problem solve, and keep the day moving when the plan goes completely out the window? That matters more than you might realize when you’re choosing them. 🤍

Some weddings just mean a little more.

Karen, Michael’s sister, was one of my very first paying clients. Since then, I’ve gotten to watch their family grow, photograph so many chapters of their lives, and somehow, along the way, become a small part of the family myself.

And this year has not been an easy one for them.

There have been a lot of lows.

But this day was a high worth celebrating.

I knew going into it that this one was going to feel different. I cried when I got there. I cried during the ceremony. And then I cried all over again while editing these photos.

Because as happy as this day was, you could feel the people who physically couldn’t be there.

Not in a way that took away from the celebration, but in all the little ways that reminded you they were still a part of it.

In an extra-long hug.
In a look across the room.
In the tears that came out of nowhere.
In the way everyone seemed to hold each other a little closer.

And then there was Michael and Maria.

Getting married. Popping ch*****ne. Laughing. Loving on each other. Letting themselves have this really, really happy day in the middle of a season that hasn’t always given them many reasons to celebrate.

I think that’s what got me the most.

Life doesn’t wait until everything is perfect to give us something worth celebrating.

Sometimes the happiest moments happen right alongside the hardest ones.

And being trusted to photograph both, not just what this day looked like, but everything it carried with it, meant more to me than I can really explain.

This family has trusted me with their memories for years.

This one I’ll hold onto, too.

It’s my chance to slow down, play with light, textures, and composition before the pace of the day picks up.

Then I take that same creativity with me into every moment that follows.

I love starting a wedding day here.

Not because they’re just “pretty things,” but because every single detail has a story behind it.

The invitation suite you spent months perfecting.
The earrings passed down through generations.
The perfume you’ll forever associate with your wedding morning.
The shoes you couldn’t wait to wear.

On their own, they’re just details.

But one by one, they come together to tell the beginning of your story.

One of my favorite parts of every wedding day is seeing months of planning finally come together.

All the little decisions that probably felt insignificant at the time…

The invitation you debated over.
The jewelry you searched months to find.
The perfume you saved for this morning.
The heirloom tucked into your bouquet.

Individually, they’re just pieces.

But together, they become the opening scene of one of the biggest days of your life.
