Quick (5hr drive) overnight trip to Junction, Texas for some night photography with my new astro-modified nikon Z5ii from . A day off from the new moon, but we do what we can.
Forecast was partly cloudy, but I caught a few breaks in the clouds. Milky Way wasn't visible given light pollution on the horizon when I was out, but it was great to get out of town and play with the new camera.
First shot is down highway 377 between Junction and Telegraph with reflections over South Llano River. Second shot is in South Llano River State Park.

Chasing Aurora! At a School Gala? Yes, I did.
This painting was one of many art pieces available for silent auction at the and Spring Gala last weekend.
As a night photographer, this painting by Richard, in Tuttle School, immediately caught my eye and I bid to purchase it to avoid losing out to another bidder. Viewing it feels like being out in the night sky seeing aurora dance overhead.
I’ve not met Richard but I intend to write him a Thank You note. His art work is inspiring. Thank you, Richard!
Now to find a place to hang it - I think it will go in my office, so I can see it daily.
And, thanks to all of you who support and inspire young people, whether in arts, sports, academics. Keep going!

events are pretty cool! This weekend was no exception!

I was trying out my new .usa 85mm f/1.4 lens and I liked it!

is a great venue for the Coffee and Cars.

It was great to get some night shots in town! I'm challenging myself to get out around town and find new photo projects. We'll see what 2026 brings!
