Sugar Land, Texas is Strong! The "Sugar Land Strong" event on Saturday was an amazing show of the support and strength of the citizens and leaders of this community. Kiskadee Photography participated by covering the event photography. It was inspiring to hear from Mayor Zimmerman and rock out to the tunes of Mango Punch! Go Sugar Land!

There's nothing like a field of wild TEXAS BLUEBONNETS in late March through, April to signal the beginning of Spring. That's why the Texas state flower becomes the backdrop for so many photographs during this time and is well...common as cornbread. It's a downright tradition ya'll! Recently I had a lot of fun on a photoshoot with 3-month old Texan, Mark Meyer. Mark has a Texas-sized personality and is a natural in front of the lens.

Steve Hoddy of EarthQuest and his team of animal handlers put on a thrilling Birds of Prey live demonstration on Saturday, at Brazos Bend State Park. It featured the fastest animal on the planet - Peregrin Falcon (1st Photo), and the largest bird of prey on earth - Andean Condor (2nd Photo) among others. Mr. Hoddy was as entertaining as he was educational, and his birds captivated the crowd.

Trails along the cliffs in the Presidio, an old military base, provide many excellent choices for photographing the Golden Gate Bridge. For this image, I took an Uber to Battery Godfrey (which has some rich history in itself https://www.nps.gov/prsf/learn/historyculture/fort-scott-battery-godfrey.htm) and made my way across the concrete battery platform to the bluff. There I chose a site among the boulders along the edge of the cliff (not as dangerous as it sounds). In order to capture lights from the traffic I had to shoot at a point higher than the bridge since the sides of the bridge would otherwise block them. I also wanted to capture some of the shoreline and rocks in the foreground. This photo was taken in early morning during the "blue hour" using a tripod, with my 50mm f/1.4 - set at f/13, 30s shutter, iso 400.

A transient finds refuge on the Church steps near downtown San Francisco. The symbolism here creates a powerful image - a broken man resting his soul at the gates (of heaven), the Christ figure above, watching over him. Street photography is so honest.

The Cultural Kite Festival in Sugar Land, Texas on Saturday, March 4th was the inaugural event to be held at Brazos River Park and Festival Site. The wind and weather cooperated for most of the morning. Among the attractions were kite demonstrations and sales, food trucks, a tour of the park by train, martial arts performances and plenty of open space to fly kites!
