Katie & Sam 🤍

The morning of Katie & Sam’s wedding began with their beautiful tea ceremony at Vine Hill House in Sebastopol, California. It was such a meaningful part of the day, a tradition of honoring parents and elders, expressing gratitude, and being welcomed into each other’s families. We loved that their celebration made room to recognize the people whose love and support brought them to this moment. 🤍

And let me tell you, that warmth was extended to us too. Between Katie & Sam, their friends and family, and our new friends at Vine Hill House, we felt like part of the family. 🤍 we made amazing friends.

Sonoma County was every bit as gorgeous as we imagined, but these people made the trip what it was. We’re so happy that one conversation in Texas at Katie’s sister’s wedding, brought us here, and we can’t wait to share more of their day. 🤍

Savanna, we’ve loved watching you grow into the beautiful person you are today. 🤍 Getting to photograph your wedding to Justin was so special to us. The way he looks at you says everything, and you two are so blessed to have found each other. 🤍

Their wedding at Hidden Pines Lake in Atascocita was soft and classic, but let me tell you, this group knows how to party. North Carolina was in the house! They even stuck it out in the Houston heat for photos after the first look, and we had the best time with them. 🤍

Also, can we talk about the Hidden Pines Lake remodel? The bridal suite was it, and the natural light in the cocktail and reception spaces was so pretty. What a day for these love birds. 🦢 🤍

Last but not least, archive #3 of course Janai needed a second dress 🤍 A sultry, still classic, and so her.

After their ceremony, we got to take Janai and Miguel’s photos at The Lancaster Hotel in downtown Houston. They have such a soft, natural chemistry, and I love how it comes through in these. Miguel looked so handsome in his custom tux, and Janai’s second look was giving everything. 🤍🤍

COVID restrictions meant dinner was with their closest family and friends, but Janai and Miguel were still celebrating their love and making the most of their first reception.

archive day 2 🤍 Janai Paz-Mejia | Lifestyle edition

Janai has probably been in front of our cameras 10+ times by now… maybe more 😂 We stopped counting, but every session with her has been such a gift. She is THAT girl. 🤍

We’ve photographed so many seasons of her life, including her bridals, and one day, those deserve their own out of the archive moment too.

During her bridal session, I noticed part of her eyeliner & eyelashes needed adjusting in almost every photo. I hesitated to say anything because I never want to overstep or make anyone feel bad, 🫶🏼 but I did. 🤍 as a girly I would want to know 🧚

Janai was so appreciative and said, “Oh my gosh, I felt the same way. Thank you for telling me. I knew it!” and of course Miguel came to the rescue and got her dream makeup artist Houston Makeup Artist , and everything came together beautifully. 🤍

Little photographer FYI: bridals aren’t required, but we love them. They let you see your full look dress, hair, makeup, accessories, everything before the wedding and make any needed adjustments. They also give your photographer a chance to catch details that may show up more clearly in photos.

Now we’re sorting through YEARS of photos while switching cloud services 😭 so don’t get sick of us! lol 😋

Happiest anniversary to our loved friends Janai & Miguel 🤍

Janai and Miguel have always felt so timeless to us. There’s something intimate and classic about them, and I think that’s part of why we became friends so fast. It’s the same feeling we strive for in our art. 🤍photos that are intentional and beautiful in THAT moment, but still feel just as meaningful 30 years from now. 🤍

They had the most dreamy, intimate, COVID wedding in 2020, and they’ve been one of our biggest supporters ever since. Always believing in our art, cheering us on, sharing our work and telling their family and friends about us. 🤍

So for the next two days, we’re posting in honor of our friends and going into the archives of Janai & Miguel because duh… we’re basically the family photographers at this point 😋

And actually, we decided we’re going through ALL of our couples’ archives. So don’t be surprised if you see yourselves pop up on here again. Hiiii guys we miss you!!! 🫶🏼🤍👋🏼

That’s what Saul and I love about being photographers . Photos don’t expire. And honestly, that’s what we want when someone comes across our Instagram feed and website. Years from now, we want these photographs to feel just as classic & timeless as they did the day we took them.

Thank you to these two for always cheering us on, and to every one of our couples who has shared our name with their family and friends. It means the world to us that you choose us to be there for these intimate pieces of your lives and that we get to keep documenting your stories as the years go by. 🤍
