🌺 MĀKĀLEI BEACH PARK, O'AHU ⛱️ 🌊 🏄♂️
This is a secluded beach on the Diamond Head side of Waikīkī. A favorite spot of locals and is a personal little hidden gem favorite of ours. It offers crystal clear water, stunning ocean views, and a majestic in your face view of Diamond Head summit, which towers overhead.
Most visitors miss this spot. There's no on street parking (see PROTIP BELOW), restrooms/changing facilities, food, lifegaurds and no shade on the beach. There is plenty of shade and a shower in the parks picnic area, which is adjacent to the beach.
PRO TIP:
If you are looking to escape the crowds for a day and want to avoid traveling too far, this is the spot!
Park at Kapi'olani Park across from the aquarium at Kaimana beach and take a 10 to 15 walk uphill or take the bus directly to the entrance. Alternatively, the bus can be taken from Honolulu Zoo.
Mākālei Beach Park is a wonderful beach for taking a dip, snorkeling, surfing or watching surfers 🏄♀️, and sunbathing. As always, remember to pack the sunscreen and bring plenty of water.
