A NJ TRANSIT commuter train heads north through Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. Leading the train on the former Erie Railroad mainline is MTA Metro-North Railroad EMD GP40FH-2M number 4900. Taken December 28, 2022.

Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's Nickel Plate Road Steam Locomotive Number 765 heads north through Fremont, Indiana. The 2-8-4 was pulling an excursion known as the "Tri State Scenic" on the Indiana Northeastern Railroad Company. The whistle on the locomotive was from Nashville Steam's 576. Taken August 28, 2022.

CSX's business special passes the Chesapeake and Ohio Historical Society in Clifton Forge, Virginia as it heads east toward Richmond. Leading the passenger train are a pair of GE ES44AHs and an Electro Motive Diesel F40PH-2. At the time of this video, the passenger cars had just been repainted into a scheme inspired from the passenger trains of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, one of CSX's predecessors. Taken March 4, 2021.

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad steam locomotive number 1309 performs a photo runby at Frostburg, Maryland with a photo freight consist. This was part of a weekend of events sponsored by McHugh Locomotive and Equipment. The 1309 is the last steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1949 and is currently the largest operating steam locomotive on the East Coast. Taken March 5, 2022.

On March 9, 2022, the Elk River Railroad moved the last remaining storage cars and brought them to the interchange with the Appalachian and Ohio Railroad, Inc. at Gilmer, West Virginia. It seemed fitting that the final movement of cars was coal hoppers as the ELKR was originally set up to load coal trains. Today, this line is in the process of being ripped up and converted to a trail.
