Despite NJ having terrible weather throughout the night of the lunar eclipse, the situation in Texas was much better. It was initially cloudy and was ready to pack it in but i got a message that the roofs were opening and I sprang into action.

I went on the beach after 10pm and the Milky Way core was clearly visible by the naked eye. What was also visible was the Atlantic City skyline and it was competing with the Milky Way for my attention. The city still looks a nuclear bomb going off but the Milky Way core looks really nice and defined.

The skies at Long Beach Island were so nice. I think I found my new dark spot in NJ! This shot of the core was taken with my 85mm and reveals so many DSOs including the Lagoon nebula, Swan Nebula, Eagle Nebula and so much more!
