Thank you Associated Crafts/Willet Hauser Architectural Glass, Inc.
Stained glass and love stories are a natural marriage! In the days leading up to Valentine’s Day we will be sharing stories of nuptials that took place in the presence of beautiful stained glass windows! Some will be windows that we have created and others not, but all silently witnessed a significant moment in so many love stories.
Today we begin with the story of Alexis and Patrick, who were married in front of the stained glass window that put our studio on the world’s stage 110 years ago - the great Sanctuary Window in the West Point Cadet Chapel of West Point - The U.S. Military Academy. Inscribed with the Academy’s motto, “Duty, Honor, Country”, the window depicts both Old and New Testament imagery.
From Alexis: “Patrick and I met first semester of our junior year at West Point. We didn’t start “dating'' though until second semester after he was my only classmate to help navigate downloading a computer program for our military intersession class. We dated through our senior year, graduated from West Point, attended our respective Officer Basic Courses, deployed to Iraq for 12 months, got engaged and then married 9 months later at West Point’s Cadet Chapel in September of 2006 (before Patrick went to Iraq for another deployment - this time 15 months). We’ll celebrate 14 years this September!”
Thank you for sharing, Alexis and Patrick! We wish you many more years of happiness together!
