SECCA was proud to host artist Emilio Rojas last week for the opening of “tracing a wound through my body,” now in the Potter Gallery.
“If my art serves as an example for other people to heal, resist, or build community and connect with other people, then that already counts as a purpose,” Rojas recently told Qué Pasa.
“tracing a wound through my body” is the first traveling survey of the contemporary practice of Mexican-born multidisciplinary artist Emilio Rojas. The exhibition brings together works spanning the past decade including live performances and interventions, documents of performance sustained in video and ephemera, photography, sculpture, installation, and poetry. Recognizing the act of tracing dualistically, “tracing a through my body both” reexamines the artist's corpus and reckons with the legacies of colonial and border traumas.
This exhibition is curated by Laurel V. McLaughlin and organized by Lafayette College Art Galleries, Easton, PA. Plan your visit, and remember: admission is always free! Learn more: https://secca.org/exhibition-detail.php?LinkId=803849918
