As most of you may know, I have been on a professional leave of absence since my surgery in October. Due to personal reasons, it’s with a heavy heart that I announce the continuation of my temporary closure of Melanie Darrigo Photography.

There are some people that when you meet them, you can't help but smile so bright because their light simply radiates effortlessly. Jordan is one of those souls. From the moment we met, my chaotic day just evaporated, and the entire afternoon was simply JOY. I fully believe I'm a better person after spending those few hours laughing and tromping through the chilly river with Jordan and his wonderful mama Ambur, and I cannot wait to see all of the incredible things he's going to accomplish after his senior year.
Jordan, you are a light, and I hope you always shine!

I met Emily through 898 Quarter Horses' Bring Your Own Horse lesson nights, and have loved watching her relationship with Diablo. Whether he's flying her around barrels in the arena or taking her for a ba****ck adventure through the tall grassy field behind the barn, you can see how much these two mean to each other.

Mia contacted me for a family portrait session, as it had been a few years since their last. Life has a funny way of all of a sudden speeding up, and before you know it, years have gone by and little babies are no longer so small.
After our original date was rained out, our second date proved it was well worth the wait! I spent the start of our time together, under the brilliant sunshine, swooning while exploring their breathtaking property to capture individual portraits of their three beautiful children.
Next, we were in their former horse paddocks, now turned into dreamy wildflower fields, fitting for a heart horse.

As the sun tucked itself in for the evening, we chased the light for slow dances, so many kisses, and the perfect color of wildflowers to snuggle into. While their sweet pups explored all around us, Brooke and Austin shared a chapter of their beautiful love story with me, and I couldn't help but smile so brightly, witnessing their hearts sing.

For Alexa's senior portrait session, we adventured through wild blueberry fields, waved hello to a peeping fawn, chased Canadian geese, stopped to smell the flowers in a gorgeous garden, hunted for frogs in a pond - Maryssa caught one!-, explored the woods in Ghillie suits, got our feet wet in the lake, and went fishing while it started to lightly rain!
Your senior portraits should reflect who you are, what you love, and have those you love there. Alexa had all three of those during our time together, and I can't think of a better way to start senior year than full of happiness and so much love.
