Cold air, soft winter light, and a whole lot of snuggling. ❄️✨
There is something so deeply romantic and quiet about winter celebrations in the Midwest. The light soft-focuses through the afternoon sky, the landscapes clear out, and every single hug feels just a little bit warmer.
If you're worried about feeling cold or awkward during winter photos, take a deep breath. My favorite secret weapon for winter sessions? **Lots and lots of snuggling.**
We use the chilly weather to our advantage:
* **Endless Snuggle Prompts:** Tucking inside a jacket, wrapping up in a heavy wool blanket, pressing foreheads together, and pulling each other in close to stay warm naturally creates those unscripted, genuine moments without any forced posing. Brings in the cozy private moments to light.
* **Short, Intentional Bursts:** We can work in quick 10-to-15-minute intervals outdoors so nobody gets frozen, ducking inside or into warm vehicles to reset, warm up hands, and grab hot drinks.
* **Low Golden Sun:** Winter gives us that gorgeous, glowing rim light much earlier in the afternoon, making timelines smooth, easy, and extra cozy before dinner.
Whether you’re planning a cozy winter wedding or an off-season engagement session in a quiet field, you don't have to perform for the camera just snuggle up close and let the day unfold.
❄️ **Winter & Early 2027 Dates:** I keep my cold-weather calendar limited to give every couple a high-touch, relaxed experience from start to finish.
