“Identity”

“Identity” is a commentary on the societal expectations some women face pertaining to childbirth and having children. In this image series, model Fiera Foxx wanted to shed light on how women of certain age and accolades, married, home owner, etc are frequently met with unsolicited advice/pressure to have children. Having children is an undeniable blessing for those who desire it, and rightly so. But for many parents, their children become their entire identity and it can become almost innate to push those societal expectations onto others, implying that they’re lacking in accomplishments or that their accomplishments are less than valuable because they were not achieved under the burden of parenthood. For Fiera, no ones individual identity should be overlooked or deemed less than if they choose not to have children, and through each individual’s journey to parenthood, one never need to sacrifice their true identity in the process.

This idea was presented to me by Meghan Porrini where she wanted to illustrate a theme of fear through abduction and trauma but fighting back and defeating her captor and stand defiant. She did an amazing job through her emotions and Isabelle Isel did a truly remarkable job with Make Up showing realism and true horror.

A powerful and strong focused shoot that model Sarah Biemuller came to me with. I love the fact that this shows the overcoming and strength through a woman and at no point we see the attacker because this shows the true power of over coming all obstacles. I asked what she wanted to get out from this and the meaning and she said this
"Woman in horror have always fascinated me. The ones I found most admirable are the tortured heroines; the girl or woman who has been kidnapped, tortured, manipulated, violated, or worse. The one whose character tends to endure more emotional and physical pain than the other characters in the film. She witnesses her loved ones being brutally murdered, she barely escapes herself. Then, just when you think all is lost, she musters all of the strength she didn't know she had left and escapes. But before she heads for the hills, she seeks her revenge...and she gets it with raging undeniable vengeance. This photo series is more than just getting bloody and imagining I'm being chased by a crazed killer (although it's pretty fun to do so); I wanted it to represent the courage I know all women have. To face what we fear and to protect ourselves and our loved ones, and to protect our freedoms which what we know is rightfully ours. Because we most certainly can and we absolutely will." - Sarah Biemuller
Make up by the amazing and talented Isabelle Isel who came right in the day of and knew exactly what to do and not only nailed it but also quickly and so detailed. She also came with for any touch ups and gave us ideas as well. A truly amazing and talented team I had this day and I am truly proud to of been able to capture her ideas.

Had the privilege and honor to get to do a shoot with MiMi Fulton. Her name is blowing up all over the place and it's so awesome to see that. I decided to do a Jaws trivia question for a free shoot and she got it right. I sent her a message laughing thinking cause I know how booked she gets and how well known she was that she was just going to say she wanted to e right lol, but she went no, I want to shoot, I was very excited and so happy I got to do this with her. This was my first real project starting on paper the building the whole set and lighting. Huge shout out to Michael Batzel for air brushing background and Kevin Kevin Stewart for helping set it up. Samantha Marie was amazing in this and really brought this character to life. Big thank you to Matt Phoenix for doing her awesome make up. Be on the look out for more stuff like this coming soon
