One of the things photography has taught me is that the best moments usually aren’t the ones we plan.

They’re the quiet ones.

The ones that happen in between everything else — when the house is still, the light is soft, and something small catches your attention.

Today it was this moment on the living room floor.
No posing. No perfect setup. Just natural daylight coming through the windows, a peaceful house, and a sleepy nose resting on the carpet.

Moments like this are what made me fall in love with photography in the first place.

Not because they’re dramatic or perfectly staged, but because they’re real.

Photography, to me, is about noticing the small things most people walk past — the quiet moments that make up everyday life. The warmth of a room. The softness of light. The feeling of being home.

Those are the stories I love capturing most.

Because sometimes the most meaningful photographs are simply the honest moments we didn’t even realize were worth remembering.

Winter editing sessions have been teaching me a lot!!!

As I’ve been patiently (and maybe a little impatiently) waiting for some booking calls for photo sessions, I’ve spent this slower winter season really focusing on growing my editing skills.

Looking back through these photos of this beautiful family, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them all over again.

Through practicing and editing more, I’ve learned how important light really is, how backgrounds don’t need to be the focal point, and how much I love creating sharp, crisp images that truly highlight the people in the moment.

It has me even more excited for photo sessions in 2026.

I used to think the best photos were the perfectly posed ones.

The ones where everything was aligned.
Where no one looked messy.
Where it all felt “put together.”

But the older I get… the more I fall in love with the in-between.

The coffee in a blanket.
The way a hand naturally rests.
The quiet moments no one is performing for.

That’s when people are real.
That’s when connection shows up.

Candid photography isn’t about avoiding direction.
It’s about creating space for honesty.

I guide. I prompt. I move you.
But I don’t force you.

Because the most powerful images don’t happen when you’re posing —
they happen when you’re present.
