#15 Harbor Beach Lighthouse

Another one we just couldn’t get too close to on the first pass. We will try to come back and commandeer a vessel on “Official Lighthouse Business” to get closer! 😂

16. Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse in Port Hope. One of top 10 oldest in Michigan, the original tower was built in 1848. Due to terrible overwhelming waves, a giant fire, and terrible planning, the original tower had to be rebuilt in 1857, along with a new guards tower. The light is still operable, giving navigational aid. You’ll also notice the original oil pump station on the ground. This one is a real cutie!

#98 Munising Front Range Light is literally down the street from #99 Munising Rear Range. The two work together to cover the bay. Opened in 1908 this cottage style lighthouse is easily missed in Munising.

With spooky season upon us this book choose us!

When traveling in Southern Illinois this book was picked up by a spouse and brought to our attention as fitting buy in an Antique Store.

Upon opening the book to its only bookmark we found it was an article about Michigan Lighthouses from 5/1/2000!!!

#99 Munising Rear Range Lighthouse

This house was a fun one to see as it is nestled in the woods on a hill overseeing Lake Superior.

Built in 1908 the Munising Rear Range Light works with the Munising Front Range Light to project a line of light out into Lake Superior in order to guide boats from the open lake into the safe harbor at Munising, Michigan. The pair of lighthouses were built to replace lighthouse #100 The Grand Island East Channel Light. The light is a continuous red color.
