Pensacola Beach had my whole heart last week! 🎓✨ Not only did I get to watch my big baby walk across that stage — Congratulations, I love you so much, bonus mom is SO proud of you — but those views? That water? I had to stop and soak it all in. 🌊☀️ What a weekend to remember.

✈️ Big travel day! And yes — I'm doing it with carry-on and personal item bag-only. Here's how I travel light as a photographer. 📸

I used to be that person at the airport with a camera bag, and way to much luggage— looking absolutely unhinged and paying over priced fees I don't want to talk about. 😅

I finally cracked the code on traveling light without leaving critical gear at home. Here's everything I've learned:

🤷🏾‍♀️Personal Items — Ranger Roll It!
→ Clothes and styling tools go in the personal items bag like a purse. If possible vacuum seal to make them small as possible! Buy small toiletries when I get there!

📷 GEAR — LESS IS MORE
→ Bring ONE camera body. Mirrorless changed the game — same quality, half the weight.
→ Limit yourself to 2 lenses max. A 24–70mm covers 90% of situations. Add a fast 50mm prime and you're set for everything else.
→ Skip the full flash kit. My Godox iT30 or A compact bi-color LED panel fits in your pocket and handles most lighting needs on the road.

🎒 THE BAG STRATEGY
→ One camera backpack that fits the overhead bin — period.
→ Wear your jacket with pockets and put lens pouches in the pockets. That's free "luggage"
→ Use a travel tripod. Carbon fiber options like the Peak Design Travel Tripod that will collapse small enough to strap outside your bag.

💾 STORAGE & BACKUP
→ 3 memory cards — never run out mid-shoot.
→ A portable 1TB SSD for nightly backups. Losing a shoot because you checked a bag that got lost? Never again.

🔋 POWER
→ Always carry-on your batteries — airlines require it. Bring 2 spares minimum and a dual USB-C charger to top everything off overnight.
→ A universal travel adapter with built-in USB ports means one less thing to pack.

🛡️ THE STUFF MOST PEOPLE FORGET
→ Lens cleaning kit — dust and smudges will ruin your shots before your battery does.
→ A rain cover for both your camera AND your bag. Weather doesn't care about your shoot schedule.
→ Silica gel packs. Humidity quietly destroys camera equipment. Toss a few in the bag — they weigh nothing.
→ Digital copies of all your gear receipts stored in the cloud. Customs and insurance claims both ask for this.
