Nature has a special place in my soul. As I take long walks, my mind opens and I begin to see things, from colorful landscapes to the smallest creatures. The way the sunlight, clouds and shadows dance through the trees, or highlight a subject. I find peace and great accomplishment in being able to photograph these moments, before they are gone. You cannot chase nature, you must be patience, and at
the same time, quick. For the clouds will move, the birds will fly, and the weather is always changing. Christine Bushby is a Northwest Indiana photographer, residing in Griffith. A lifelong resident, beginning in Hessville, her interest in photography started as a child, her father being a hobbyist in the field himself. Her main sources of inspiration now consist of nature and music. Her art is characterized by use of available light as well as her vision of compositions. Her tufted titmouse photograph was chosen, through a contest, to represent Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on their Christmas cards in 2012. While residing in Valparaiso, Indiana, Christine was the recipient of several ribbons at Porter County Fair, including first place. She has had works published in magazines and books. Her artistic photography is also in several private residences throughout Northwest Indiana. Christine attended Harrington College of Design for a commercial degree in digital photography. While it was a great learning experience, she made the decision to leave, realizing more of an artistic influence than a commercial one. She continues to practice and learn, with the support and encouragement of her husband, who is an engineer/photographer.
