Take a look at all the hurricanes that have made landfall along the Gulf and East coasts of the United States during the past 173 years!

One thing that stands out, besides the sheer number of storms, is how they are all fairly evenly distributed. There are some noticeable spots with fewer storms, like the northeast coast of Florida.

-tornado stats for IL in 2023....

In our area, 2023 saw rare wintertime tornadoes in both Jan & Feb, which ended up portending a very active year for tornadoes (58 in all). The majority occurred during 2 July events & a regional outbreak on 3/31, breaking a number of records. https://www.weather.gov/lot/2023tornadoes
