October 15 is Global wave of light day.

Each little flame is not just a memory or a loss. It’s a whole lifetime that should have been, but wasn’t.

It’s favourite colours and favourite songs that you never got to know. It’s firsts that never came, first steps, first words, first pair of shoes, first day of school.

It’s an entire universe of “what ifs” And what would have been. And a lifetime of knowing and loving someone and yet never knowing who they might have been.

Light a candle this evening at 7pm and take a moment for all of those families who carry their little lights in their hearts and not their arms.

🤍 A little team announcement! 🤍

Open Arms Birth Co. is SO excited to officially welcome Meghon to the team as our Postpartum Doula, Babywearing Expert, Bereavement Doula, and Administrative Assistant!

You’ll be seeing more of her around here on social media, in the office answering emails, and supporting families in so many ways that I simply wasn’t able to do on my own.

This feels like such a natural next step because Meghon and I have already been working together for years, and she’s been supporting Open Arms families in an unofficial postpartum role for the last six months. Now, we get to make it official and expand the ways we serve our community!

We’re looking forward to offering more classes, growing our support groups, and continuing to provide compassionate, respectful bereavement support through both birth and postpartum. Having another set of hands and another heart committed to this work means we can show up for families in even more ways.

Just to clarify, Meghon is not a birth doula, so this isn’t a birth doula partnership. Her role will focus exclusively on postpartum support and administration. You may start hearing from her when you email us or message our social media pages, and she’ll eventually be leading our birth and postpartum support groups, too!

This is such an exciting new chapter for Open Arms Birth Co., and I’m so grateful to have her alongside me as we continue to grow. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Meghon with Open Arms! 😉🤍
