Colorado River Fire celebrated the topping out of the new Station 61 in Silt Thursday morning. Shaw Construction put together an entire event with the beam signing, lifting, raffle prizes, and lunch. The new station was built in the pre-existing parking lot of the station on east side where they will connect the existing apparatus bays to complete the station. Once move-in ready crews will move over and the old living quarters will be torn down.

At approximately 14:11 on Saturday, October 24, the Grand Junction fire department was dispatched for a possible commercial structure fire at Puppy Love, 337 North Ave. with callers reporting black smoke from behind the building. First arriving companies began investigating the area with no obvious signs of fire. Engine 3 located a working fire inside a single story commercial structure and requested additional companies to search and assist with fire attack. The was knocked within minutes of arrival. The fire was determined to be intentionally set.
