The Light . . .
I photographed this image the other night from my driveway. It was captured in-camera (Nikon Z9 /Nikkor Z 24-120mm), without digital manipulation. Wonderous photographs are everywhere, when we allow ourselves to be taken in by the experience.

Relic of the Past
A preserved mining town in Montana provided ample photo opportunities to capture a bygone era. As a natural-light photographer, I was at home with the lovely light bathing the interiors. No need to improve on what nature can light so well, which left me time to immerse myself in the wonder of the scene before me.

Nothing was altered while photographing this image. I merely framed with my camera, what my heart was feeling at the moment. Sometimes, the best images happen when we let go and embrace the magic of the moment by not over thinking it.

Happy Independence Day – July 2, 1776
Today in 1776, is the actual day our Founders declared our independence from Great Britian. It was on July 2, and not July 4 as most people believe, that the Continental Congress debated, voted, and ratified in to law the Lee Resolution, which officially separated the American colonies from Great Britian’s control. It was not until the year 1870, that the federal government decided to move the date of this epochal event in America’s history to July 4, by proclaiming it an official federal holiday. Before this time, America celebrated its independence on July 2, when our independence was made official. On July 3, 1776, John Adams would write in a letter to his wife Abigail, that July 2nd would be the day we “celebrate Independence forever.”

Enjoy and celebrate today and the rest of the week, giving thanks to those noble patriots who fought and died for our Liberty!

Spoiler Alert: Not Artificial Intelligence
This image is not an ‘Artificial Intelligence’ generated photograph. It was captured in-camera with a Nikon Z9/Nikkor Z 24-120mm. The bubbles happened as a result of direct sunlight striking the glass door over the years, which caused the inside mylar sunscreen to lift from the surface. The reflections on the surface of the glass are the surrounding area.

There are wonderous things to photograph everywhere, when we choose to see them! The world is overflowing with amazing things to see and photograph. The joy for me as a natural photographer, has always been capturing images with my Nikon cameras. My camera is a conduit to my soul, it captures and expresses my inner most being as an artist. As a photographer, I want to have control of what that expression might be. In the end, I can say with fortitude, “I was there, I took this picture!”

Ethereal Light
I love the quality of light in this capture that I made at the Grand Canyon! It was shot on a cloudy-bright afternoon, not the typical golden hour photographers usually prefer. I always remain open to possibilities, and as a result, possibilities present themselves.

Captured with a Nikon D850/Nikkor 70-200mm .

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. ~ Confucius

Image is a Texas Field Thistle. I used a Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera and a Nikkor Z 100-400mm lens (DX crop). This telephoto zoom has been my go-to lens this spring for capturing Texas wildflowers. Its stunning sharpness, useful zoom range and close-up magnification capabilities, make for a winning combination!

Change your perspective, and new, unexpressed wonders will begin to reveal themselves. All we have to do is choose to see it.

Wonders From Above . . .
Amazing what can be happening upward when you are looking downward. I was in the process of photographing some Texas wildflowers, when I happened to glance up and noticed this wonderful cloud taking its time floating across the sky. I am glad I had my ultra-wide Nikkor Z 14-30mm lens in my photo pack. Zooming out to 14mm, I was able to capture its striking formation and beauty against the cobalt, colored sky.
