A few weeks ago I spent hours trying to get my first photo of a Painted Bunting at Hagerman NWR, and managed to find two. This morning, I woke up to the sounds of Painted Buntings in the trees along my back fence. This evening with some patience and a keen eye, I managed to find a female Painted Bunting.
