On September 12, Rams Head On Stage welcomed singer/songwriter and Maryland-native, Maggie Rose. In front of a sold-out crowd, Rose delivered a set that moved from soulful groove to country ache. Fresh off her latest album, “Half Moon,” released in August, the tracks are a great mix of her original musical style which blends country with soul, rock, and Americana.

On September 12, Young the Giant put on a phenomenal headlining show at the Annapolis Songwriters Festival. Formed in 2004 in California and signed to Roadrunner Records in 2009, their self-titled 2010 debut album went Gold, with “My Body” going RIAA Platinum, and “Cough Syrup” achieved double Platinum. The rock band excels at delivering addictive riffs and hooks with clear, soaring vocals and lyrics that are equally insightful and vivid.

On 7 September, New Orleans jazz and ragtime band Tuba Skinny brought an evening of timeless tunes to Rams Head On Stage. The second night in a row of performances, the venue was filled with fans, with a line for those waiting to enter the music hall stretching beyond its doors and around the corner.

Formed in 2009, Tuba Skinny began as street musicians and have since gone on to tour across Europe, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. Inspired by jazz artists and groups from the 1920s & 30s, their repertoire mixes covers and originals drawn from Jelly Roll Morton, Memphis Minnie, Skip James, Duke Ellington, Memphis Jug Band, and more.

On 28 August, contemporary jazz guitarist Adam Hawley Artist Page brought an evening of electric grooves to Rams Head On Stage. While the venue promised a night of jazz guitar, Hawley delivered all that and more. Fresh off the release of his latest album, “Electric,” Hawley’s live performance was equal parts concert and a masterclass in musicianship.

Personally selected by Maurice White, founder of supergroup Earth, Wind & Fire, to join his label Kalimba Music, Hawley is one of the most successful contemporary jazz guitarists of the last decade. Not only has he worked with Jennifer Lopez, Natalie Cole, Brian McKnight, and more, but his albums and work as a producer have resulted in 20 Billboard #1 hits. Just last year, he was named the Smooth Jazz Airplay Artist of the Year.

On 16 August, legendary country music singer and Grand Ole Opry member, Pam Tillis Official Music Page, brought an evening of stories and songs to Rams Head On Stage The eldest daughter of country legend Mel Tillis, Pam was the first female artist inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in the new millennium. Established in 1925 as a live radio program in Nashville, it evolved into one of the most iconic institutions in country music, having featured country music legends such as Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and many more. Today it remains a weekly live stage show with radio and TV broadcasts. To become an Opry member is considered one of the highest honors in country music.

On 6 August, Al Jardine, a founding member of The Beach Boys, brought an evening of good vibrations to Maryland Hall in Annapolis. Best known for his lead vocals on the 1965 #1 hit “Help Me, Rhonda,” Jardine played rhythm guitar, sang harmony vocals, and later served as a songwriter and co-producer for The Beach Boys during the 1960s and 70s.

Formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California, The Beach Boys popularized surf rock nationally and internationally, defining the sunny sound of California with songs about surfing, cars, girls, and carefree youth. Their stacked vocal harmonies, ambitious songwriting, and intricate production led to them being regarded as one of the most innovative pop/rock groups of the ‘60s.
