Oil on Concrete - Photographs by David C Driscoll Unique photos of oil spots and puddles on concrete. Some look like outer space photographs of distant galaxies, some abstract paintings, and portraits.

As spilled gasoline and oil dissipate across the pavement, flowing spectrally into puddles, fissures and sewer drains, kaleidoscopic colors momentarily paint the most mundane of canvases- the street itself- with haunting and suggestive splotches, spirals, and dreamlike mirrors. With a little encouragement via digital enhancement, a world of mystery and organic beauty emerges from what is, practica

lly speaking, pollution, contamination, and waste. It strikes me as a poignant microcosm of our society that such fleeting moments of beauty exist in the balance between creation and destruction, between order and disorder, and always close at hand and often unnoticed, directly beneath our feet.
