Hi everyone. Today is my birthday, and honestly the only thing I want is for our cat, Luigi, to get better. He’s 8 years and 8 months old, and until this past weekend he’s always been a healthy, happy boy. Out of nowhere he rapidly lost weight and was diagnosed with diabetes, and things escalated fast. He went into diabetic ketoacidosis and spent two days in the hospital. The very next day we had to rush him back because he’s also dealing with pancreatitis, a bladder hematoma, and internal swelling.
We’re home now with insulin, medications, antibiotics, and prescription food, and we’re doing everything we can to take care of him on a strict schedule to give him the best chance at a healthy life. It’s been terrifying, heartbreaking, and honestly overwhelming.
In just the last week, his vet bills have reached $10,000. This was completely unexpected, and it has taken a huge mental, emotional, and financial toll on us. We love him so much and can’t imagine losing him.
I don’t usually ask for help, and I’ve kept my life pretty private, but I’m setting up a GoFundMe to help with the cost of his care. If you’re able to donate, I can’t express how grateful I’d be. And if you can’t, I completely understand—your thoughts and prayers for Luigi mean a lot too.
