I decided to get into portraits. I really like film noir cinematography with the high contrast and sharp shadows. I picked up 3 Godox speedlights so I could do the classic Hollywood light setup. Turns out it was much harder than I thought it would be. There's a lot that goes into it: angles, light intensity, distance, etc. We took about 80 shots last night and I was only satisfied with 6 of them. We had a blast doing it though and I have a few other people that want the film noir treatment done. The selective color was inspired by Sin City created by Frank Miller. I'm excited to explore this style of photography.

Step into the world of Marvel storytelling with a fine art tribute to one of the most iconic superheroes ever created. This Captain America artwork transforms a Marvel Legends action figure into a powerful piece of collectible-inspired wall art.

This fine art toy photography image is a homage to Mike Zeck's iconic Captain America #332 cover (Inked by Klaus Janson). The subject is a Marvel Legends Captain America action figure that I photographed and transformed into a dramatic illustrated-style artwork.

The American flag background was created using a photograph of a flag I captured, combined with several additional texture photographs. I blended these elements together in Photoshop, layering colors, textures, and effects to create a dynamic comic book-inspired image. Through a combination of Photoshop filters and artistic editing techniques, I gave the original photograph an illustration appearance while preserving the authenticity of the photographed subject. No AI was used to create any part of this artwork.

I decided to get into portraits. I really like film noir cinematography with the high contrast and sharp shadows. I picked up 3 Godox speedlights so I could do the classic Hollywood light setup. For this piece, I wanted to explore a different creative direction. After completing my edits, I decided to experiment with an illustrated style to bring out the textures, character, and nostalgic feeling of the scene. I can’t draw by hand, so this technique became my way of transforming photography into something that feels closer to illustration. This was not created with an app, preset, or filter, and there was no AI involved. Instead, I used a technique I found that was created about nine years ago that combines multiple layers, blending modes, and carefully applied textures to create this unique artistic effect. I’m incredibly happy with how the final image preserves the authenticity of the photograph while adding a handcrafted illustrated appearance.

In July, the Hanover Area Arts Guild Gallery is hosting a Red, White, and Blue themed show and this piece will be one of my entries. The worn paint, classic pickup truck design, and oversized flag mural create a conversation piece that celebrates the beauty found in forgotten places and everyday American history, which I feel is appropriate for our country's milestone anniversary.

Selective Color for the win! Here is another spring selective color. This time of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover, PA. I came across the church while on my way to the spring show at the Hanover Area Arts Guild Gallery. I absolutely loved the pink blossoms. This one was tricky to edit (besides it being selective color). There were a lot of power lines that needed to be removed. There were a couple cars in the parking lot along with some distracting signs. The lighting was also harsh due to the midday sun, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Spring is over 🥲

I have several photos of flowers I took throughout spring, but my favorite is the shot I got from Federal Pointe Inn, Gettysburg. I posted it a while back, but I decided to revisit it and do a selective color black and white and I love it! selective color is my favorite form of photography.

A Beautiful Sunset.

I've been away for a bit. I Haven't done much photography and a took a break from the photography institute I am attending. I was getting burnt out and not feeling inspired. After a bit of a rest, the next assignment for me to do was a sunset photo from a higher vantage point. Technically, I was supposed to do it from a city, but since I live in Gettysburg, I figured I'd showcase a bit of rural Pennsylvania. The subject is the McLean Farm It also gave me an opportunity to test out a new to me lens. It was a 50mm lens from the 60's. The lens is very sharp and colors were very good. I did very little editing and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.

The reception was last Sunday. I had fully intended on recording it, but honestly, I was having too much fun meeting everyone there and discussing their works and mine.
