A small win I’m grateful to share.

My infrared photograph, Elegy in Shadow and Spice, was selected for TCG Gallery’s international exhibition, Memory: What Remains.

I made this photograph while wandering through Santa Fe with my wife, Tracey. Removing the familiar red of the dried chilis revealed something quieter—a study of texture, time, and what remains after color disappears.

It feels especially meaningful to see the image placed within the exhibition’s “Afterimages” collection.

When the Wild Looks Back

I was watching this solitary giraffe on the horizon when, for a moment, the gaze was returned.

There was no movement toward one another—only a quiet recognition across the distance.

Sometimes the wild does more than allow us to see it.

Sometimes it sees us, too.

**A Quiet Correspondence**

For a brief moment, a solitary tree and a passing cloud seemed to acknowledge one another across the open sky.

Nothing moved between them. Nothing needed to.

Perhaps some connections are felt most deeply in the silence.

Divine Summit

Above the Grand Teton near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, a jet’s contrail pierced the luminous sky like an arrow of light.

As sunlight moved around the mountain, the peak became a dark altar beneath a golden glow, and the ordinary contrail seemed to mark a pathway between earth and sky. For a moment, the landscape felt like one of those thin places where the physical and spiritual worlds draw close.

This is what I hope to find when I photograph—not simply a beautiful place, but the instant when familiar reality shifts into something deeper.

Divine Summit is part of my Realm of Dreams collection and the Dream World Images Signature Collection.

Floating Mountains

Along the Bush Bay Trail, often called the Narnia Trail, near Port Dolomite, Michigan, the scattered rocks seemed to float in an almost endless white space. The movement of the Great Lakes water softened into a quiet veil, creating a scene that feels like a natural Zen garden.

There is a stillness here that invites me to pause and breathe, to let time slow down, and to look again at the familiar world.

Elegy in Shadow and Spice

Some photographs find you when you’re not looking for them.

Tracey and I were wandering through the historic plaza in Santa Fe when I happened to glance down a covered passageway. Hanging quietly in the shadows was a traditional ristra of dried New Mexico chilis.

Most people photograph them for their rich red color.

I wanted to see something different.

Working in invisible light stripped away the color and revealed something I hadn’t expected. Instead of food, I saw sculpture. Every wrinkle, fold, and curve became part of a quiet study of texture, time, and craftsmanship.

Sometimes removing color allows us to notice what was there all along.

Winter’s Mountain Watch

On the National Elk Refuge near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the land opened before me like a held breath. Miller Cabin rested beneath the snow-touched mountains while elk gathered across the protected meadow.

A gentle haze drifted through the valley, softening the distance and giving the afternoon an almost timeless quality. Against the scale of the landscape, the cabin’s small, steadfast presence became the heart of the scene—a reminder of human shelter, pioneer endurance, and Wyoming’s quieter power.

Winter’s Mountain Watch is part of my Serenade of Light collection and the Dream World Images Signature Collection.

Amethyst Sanctuary

Sometimes a photograph begins with nothing more than a flash of color.

While traveling near Lander, Wyoming, this small grove immediately caught my eye. Surrounded by open prairie, it seemed to stand alone against the wide Wyoming sky. Through invisible light, the foliage transformed into brilliant shades of amethyst, rising from a sea of soft pink grasses beneath gathering clouds.

The weathered fence and endless prairie grounded the scene in reality, while the unexpected colors carried it somewhere else entirely.

Images like this remind me that even the most familiar landscapes still have secrets waiting to be discovered.

Amethyst Sanctuary is part of my Realm of Dreams collection and the Dream World Images Signature Collection.

Kindred Hills

Driving through the countryside outside Lander, Wyoming, this quiet scene caught my attention almost immediately.

A weathered fence wandered across the rolling hills while a small grove of trees stood together in the distance. Off to the side, one smaller tree stood apart from the others, creating a quiet sense of relationship that I couldn’t ignore.

Working in invisible light transformed the trees into rich shades of violet while the prairie softened into gentle pinks beneath the Wyoming sky.

Some landscapes don’t need dramatic mountains or waterfalls to leave an impression.

Sometimes a few trees, a fence, and open country are enough.

Twilight Between Worlds

While exploring Caddo Lake by boat, I found myself surrounded by towering cypress trees draped in Spanish moss. The quiet water reflected everything so perfectly that it became difficult to tell where the forest ended and its reflection began.

The cool blue tones and invisible light transformed the scene into something suspended between reality and imagination. It was one of those rare moments when the landscape seemed completely still, as though time itself had paused.

Images like this remind me that some places don’t simply ask us to look—they invite us to slow down, become quiet, and experience the world a little differently.

Twilight Between Worlds is part of my Realm of Dreams collection and the Dream World Images Signature Collection.
