I’ll be honest: at first, I thought this kid was a little brat.

He was running everywhere, in a studio filled with expensive lighting and an Italian canvas painted by hand, and I knew something could get knocked over. I stayed watchful, but I let him run.

Because asking him to sit still and say “cheese” would have been a sin.

Just look at those expressions. That laughter. That enormous personality in such a little body. This is who he is right now, and I’m so glad I didn’t try to turn him into someone quieter for the photograph.

Soon, his face will change. Soon, he’ll be in school. But his mother will always have this: not simply how he looked, but who he was.

A few photographs from a wonderfully intimate evening with Faisal Mushtaq, founder of TechCon Global, and the Austin chapter of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN).

My camera followed the evening as it unfolded: welcoming smiles, stories shared around the dinner table, attentive faces, laughter, tea, and conversations that continued long after the formal discussion ended.

Thank you to Ashher Syed for inviting me to capture the gathering, and to Faisal for a warm and memorable conversation about entrepreneurship, taking risks, and creating value by connecting people.

For me, photography is about observing closely and finding the small moments that carry a larger story. Unscripted expressions, gestures, and connections often bring the memory of an evening to life.

The Stories Between the Handshakes

Last Friday, I attended the first MPower Founder Sessions in Austin at RE|CREATE Cedar Park, hosted by Ehab Gabr and Hoda Sallam. I was invited by Ehab and also had the opportunity to photograph the morning.

The room brought together founders, operators, investors, and builders for coffee, candid conversation, and an honest discussion about what it actually takes to build a business. When I photograph events like this, I’m looking beyond the obvious moments. I’m looking for the expressions, interactions, and small human stories that give the event its character.

I photograph corporate events, executive headshots, and personal branding sessions throughout Central Texas. If your business needs polished imagery that also tells a story, I’d love to help.

A Fun Day at the Square

Amanda and Blake's courthouse wedding at the Historic Georgetown Square was a reminder of something I see often:

Most couples aren't professional models. They don't spend their days in front of a camera, and they shouldn't have to know exactly what to do when it's time for portraits.

These two brought plenty of fun and personality, but like most couples, they relied on guidance throughout the session. That's where experience matters.

A skilled photographer does much more than press a shutter. They know how to guide you into natural poses, help you feel comfortable, work with the available light, and create images that feel genuine rather than forced.

The Historic Georgetown Square gave us a beautiful backdrop, but great portraits don't happen because of a location alone. They happen when someone knows how to bring all the pieces together and help you feel at ease in the moment.

As Robin came to sit for her portrait, I crafted a lighting scheme borrowed from the 17th-century European masters. I have spent countless hours in various museums studying those remarkable paintings.

She is wearing a Calico Green Antebellum dress with a dark blue bonnet. I recommend viewing it in full-screen mode on a laptop or desktop computer.

I love creating painterly portraits.

Actor's Portraits

During a recent studio session, Satwika came to me for a set of headshots, an assignment quite different from my usual portrait work. Actor headshots carry a unique responsibility. They must be honest. Casting directors need to see the person exactly as they appear, not an overly stylized version.

We worked in the studio with a hand-painted canvas backdrop and slightly dramatic light. The setup was simple, intentional, and focused entirely on the face.

I directed her through a series of emotional shifts, including intensity, warmth, sadness, and confident resolve. Each expression became a different story and a different character waiting to be cast.

In a short time, we created 4–5 distinct looks, each truthful and believable.

It is always fascinating to watch someone step into different emotional worlds while the camera quietly records the transition.
