You don't have to know how to pose to have beautiful photos.
One of my favorite parts of any session is watching people relax into the moment. It almost always starts with a little uncertainty, and ends with genuine smiles, quiet connection, and portraits that feel like them.

This reel is from a recent wedding session in the heart of Georgetown Square, where the charm of the setting was only matched by the joy these two shared together. My job isn't to create perfect moments—it's to guide you so the real ones have room to shine.

The result is more than a collection of images. It's something meaningful you'll be proud to see on your walls and share for years to come.

If you're looking for a portrait experience that feels relaxed, guided, and true to who you are, I'd love to help you create something lasting. Send me a message to start the conversation.

Amanda & Blake
A Fun Day at the Square

Amanda and Blake's courthouse wedding at the Historic Georgetown Square was a reminder of something I see often:

Most couples aren't professional models. They don't spend their days in front of a camera, and they shouldn't have to know exactly what to do when it's time for portraits.

These two brought plenty of fun and personality, but like most couples, they relied on guidance throughout the session. That's where experience matters.

A skilled photographer does much more than press a shutter. They know how to guide you into natural poses, help you feel comfortable, work with the available light, and create images that feel genuine rather than forced.

The Historic Georgetown Square gave us a beautiful backdrop, but great portraits don't happen because of a location alone. They happen when someone knows how to bring all the pieces together and help you feel at ease in the moment.

Your wedding day only happens once.

Don't leave those memories to chance. Hire a photographer who knows how to guide you, create beautiful light, and capture your day in a way you'll be proud to look back on for years to come.

Amanda and Blake, thank you for trusting me to document such a meaningful day.

The men in your life deserve fine art portraits, too.

Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and brothers. Men who were always there but are missing from those old photographs, as they were tasked with loading the camera and taking photos.

Great portraits are not taken. They are made with care, planning, effortless posing, wardrobe consultation, and deliberate lighting in my studio.

As Robin came to sit for her portrait, I crafted a lighting scheme borrowed from the 17th-century European masters. I have spent countless hours in various museums studying those remarkable paintings.

She is wearing a Calico Green Antebellum dress with a dark blue bonnet. I recommend viewing it in full-screen mode on a laptop or desktop computer.

I love creating painterly portraits.

Actor's Portraits

During a recent studio session, Satwika came to me for a set of headshots, an assignment quite different from my usual portrait work. Actor headshots carry a unique responsibility. They must be honest. Casting directors need to see the person exactly as they appear, not an overly stylized version.

We worked in the studio with a hand-painted canvas backdrop and slightly dramatic light. The setup was simple, intentional, and focused entirely on the face.

I directed her through a series of emotional shifts, including intensity, warmth, sadness, and confident resolve. Each expression became a different story and a different character waiting to be cast.

In a short time, we created 4–5 distinct looks, each truthful and believable.

It is always fascinating to watch someone step into different emotional worlds while the camera quietly records the transition.
