It may be over 100° all week 😓☀️
BUT…fall is just around the corner, which means it’s almost time for cozy sweaters, cooler temps, and updated family photos! 🍂🤎
If you’re planning fall family photos, here are a few tips to make choosing outfits a little easier:
1. Start with one outfit.
Choose your absolute favorite outfit first. It can be yours, your spouse’s, or even one of the kids’ outfits. Then build everyone else’s outfits around it!
2. Coordinate, don’t match.
You don’t want everyone wearing the exact same colors. It can make the photos feel a little too “matchy.” Instead, choose colors that complement each other. If one outfit has a pattern, pull one of the colors from that pattern for someone else’s outfit.
3. Think warm + cozy.
Fall doesn’t mean everything has to be dark! Warm tans, creams, browns, rust, olive, muted blues, and denim all photograph beautifully. 🤎
4. Add some texture.
Think sweaters, denim, corduroy, knits, linen, boots, etc. Different textures add so much dimension to your photos!
5. Keep patterns simple.
If one person is wearing a noticeable pattern, let everyone else stick with solids or subtle textures. This keeps the focus on your family instead of everyone’s clothes.
6. Consider your location.
Think about where your photos will be taken when choosing your colors. Earthy tones are gorgeous in a field or wooded location, while softer neutrals can work beautifully almost anywhere.
7. Choose comfort!
Especially for the littles. If they’re uncomfortable, they’re probably not going to want to cooperate for pictures 😂 Choose outfits they can move, play, and snuggle in!
And most importantly…
Don’t stress about making everything perfect. 🤎
The goal isn’t perfectly coordinated outfits or perfectly behaved kids. It’s capturing your family exactly as you are in this season of life.
Those are the photos you’ll want to look back on years from now. 🥹
