K McLaughlin is a self-taught photographer, cinematographer, and artist with a BFA in Electronic Media (film focused with a minor in psychology) from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. They take almost a guerilla approach to photography, working on the fly to paint with light and carve with depth of field. Alternatively, commercial and corporate work tends towards t
he light, prepared, and clean end of the spectrum, which K can also juggle. Also a proponent of DIY and mixed media, they use a blend of digital and film photography, spray paint, glitter, acrylics, paper mache, polyurethane, and years of collected and created photo color curves to conjure a variety of works that are nostalgic yet awry. Some past projects include filming for CCM’s musical theatre department, directing the Cincinnati Film Festival’s Submissions Team (2014-2015), and working with a team to build a 2100 square foot, paper mâché labyrinth for the Pandora Society.
