LONG POST WARNING! I apologize in advance. It's my own fault really. I haven't posted a lot of content on this page lately. A lot about life has changed over the last couple of decades and my business has evolved and changed with me. As far as social media goes, I've out-algorithmed myself. Because I haven't been an active poster, keeping up with all of the page trends, such as reels, live videos, and whatever other new features continue to come out, Facebook has decided I'm irrelevant, and not worth showing my posts to the 4 THOUSAND people who CHOSE to follow my page and see what I have to say. No longer are the posts I make of lovely photographs of people I have the joy and privilege of working with, enough.
For example, a well-loved event for clients, as well as a good income source for my business, has always been the BLACK FRIDAY sale! As with most businesses, the hope with the sale is to both allow existing clients to snag a great deal on a product I'm grateful to provide, and also allow potential new clients a chance to work with me they might not otherwise get. This year, I even went so far as to utilize the “boost” option and paid to have my sale post shown to more people. Not NEW people, NOT people of a certain location or demographic. Just to more of the people who ALREADY follow my page, and said at some point in time that they WANTED to see my posts. To be seen by YOU, beloved followers, I have to pay. And would you like to know how many of you have seen the Black Friday sale post made a week ago? Of the 4029 people who signed up to follow me here, and after I paid a daily fee to “boost” my post to be seen by you this past week, the post has reached a whopping 307 people. Can you guess how many sales such a small reach has generated for me? That’s right, very VERY few.
So I’m waving the white flag, giving up, giving in. Sharing here has become quite the waste of time as far as generating business goes. I’ll continue to share sneak peeks for my clients, because they deserve it. But don’t be surprised if 2026 is the last year for Jessica Zellars Photography. I’m just not going to keep up with the trends in order to stay relevant. And without a social media presence, business is hard these days. It’s just the sad reality. I'm sorry.
I appreciate you all so much for being here, and for engaging with my posts. Your likes, comments and shares truly do mean more than you could ever know! I love you!
xoxo,
Jess
