- Shot local to Fort Worth, Texas, a young cardinal stikes a nice pose for a recent outdoor lighting test with strobes. With gels to emulate a warm sunset and a softbox near my feeder, the lighting setup was more studio than natural - but necessary to overcome the horrible light of near noonday sun. Toolkit: Canon zoom telephoto & EOS 5DMKII, PocketWizard triggers, Paul C. Buff/Einstein strobes.

Our flagship exhibition, TPS 32: The International Competition, opens at the Cain Art Gallery in Corpus Christi, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. The Cain Art Gallery is located on the Del Mar College Heritage Campus on Ayers Street at Tompkins Street. TPS 32, juried by María Beatriz H. Carrión, Assistant Curator of Photographs at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, continues through November 22..................................................

Another oldie but a real goodie for the new year! (I like to recycle) This image announced 1987 in a promotional done when I was working as a commercial shooter in Dallas at True Redd studio. Johnny Polk was my rep. This was one of my last self-assignments before I joined Terry McCullough Productions and moved into the film & video industry. There are a variety of lighting techniques engaged here and I'm proud of its single-shot-no-photoshop* attributes. Thanks to Jimmy Joe, RIP (Father Time) and a very young Zac Chandler for their wonderful cooperation. Happy New Year! (again!)
