Why do I create editorial work?

Because it allows me to lean into the spiritual side of myself and create from a deeper place.

I love taking concepts, philosophical ideas, dreams, and hopes buried deep in people’s hearts — and giving them visual form.

Life is not black-and-white to me. I’m drawn to the gray areas. The symbolism. The tension. The things that can be difficult to explain with words but can sometimes be felt instantly in an image.

Most of my ideas come from dreams, time in prayer, or a thought that keeps unfolding until I can see it visually.

I love taking risks with lighting, set design, wardrobe and makeup. I am not trying to recreate something I’ve already seen. I want to experiment, follow an instinct, and discover what might be possible.

Those experiments sharpen the way I see light, composition, posing, movement and storytelling. They help me notice beauty in ordinary things and approach even everyday life as something sacred.

And that perspective comes with me into every portrait session.

I love helping people see themselves in a new way — more confidently, more beautifully, more fully.

Sometimes photography can give visual form to something a person has felt deeply but never quite knew how to express.

That is one of the greatest privileges of this work for me…

…to create, to see deeply, and to help other people feel seen.

About Megan:
Megan is a Fort Wayne visual artist known for her versatility, community involvement and competitive street art. She is a three-time People‘s Choice winner at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art . And then there’s this beautifully paradoxical side of her….she can magically morph into a carpenter who builds her own fence at home. And she can take apart an engine and put it back together again. That combination of artistry, grit, skill, and contradiction is part of what made her such a fantastic person to create with.

Your senior portraits should feel like you.

One of the things I love most about being a photographer is that no two days — or people — are ever quite the same.

I may walk into a home, a corporate office, a field, a school, a studio, a state park or somewhere I’ve never been before.

And every environment asks something different of me.

This job requires me to be physically prepared, mentally flexible and emotionally present.

Sometimes I need to lead.
Sometimes I need to listen.
Sometimes I need to slow everything down.
Sometimes I need to bring the energy.

The location changes.
The circumstances change.
The people change.

My job is to meet people where they are, figure out what they need from me in that moment, and create something meaningful there.

Maybe that’s why I still love this work after all these years.

You never really know where photography is going to take you.

I’ve been a full time professional photographier for decades now, and one thing I’ve learned: the less I have to think about my gear, the more attention I can give to the people in front of me.

That’s exactly why I use my Spider Holster on shoots like this.

Photo sessions move fast. I’m changing positions, getting low, stepping back, jumping in close, directing, watching expressions—and I need my camera accessible without it swinging from my neck or getting in the way.

BRAVO, CONCORDIA! 🎭✨

What a fantastic performance of Peter and the Starcatcher last night!

A huge congratulations to the incredibly talented cast and crew and director Chris Murphy. We were especially impressed knowing just how much this theatre season is asking of these students.

With Concordia Lutheran High School’s new theatre space under construction, the theatre program is taking its shows on the road—right on campus, transforming a different space into a stage for each production this school year. Peter and the Starcatcher found its home in the school cafeteria.

That means this cast and crew have had to adapt—not only to an unconventional performance space, but to performing without the traditional staging, microphones and theatrical lighting they’re accustomed to. Watching these students learn to project their voices, adjust to the space, work together and embrace the challenge with such flexibility and positive attitudes made the performance that much more impressive.

And someday, when they step onto the stage in Concordia’s newly renovated and expanded auditorium, they’ll have quite a story to tell about the year they made everywhere a stage. ❤️ Concordia’s campus project includes a full renovation and expansion of the chapel-auditorium as part of its multi-phase improvements.
