I’m a few days late, but you’re gonna want to read this. On May 13, 1916, U.S. pilots flew their first combat sortie during the Battle of Verdun. The U.S. pilots, volunteers in the French Air Force, were known as the Escadrille Americaine (later becoming the Lafayette Escadrille). These pilots flew the Nieuport 11, a maneuverable but fragile biplane.
Only 5 days later, Kiffin Rockwell shot down a German reconnaissance plane in his Nieuport 11.

Our goal for this shoot was to capture two vastly different generations of fighter aircraft. The Nieuport 11 & The F-35a Lightning II.

How did we do?

It was fantastic to meet you Merl Potter! You have such a unique plane and it was so much fun to photograph it!

Wrapping up a busy, but amazing week. Our crew going out to dinner with an F-15 pilot was not on my bingo card. It’s been an absolute honor to meet Brick and get him some pictures. I say it all the time, but I’m truly grateful and humbled to have a spot at this crazy aviation table. 🫶🏼
