The angels came for Julie on February 21. Julie was a bright sweet brave loving generous spirit, a wife and soulmate, mother and friend, daughter and sister. She was a passionate and accomplished photographer whose work brightens the lives of so many people across America and as far away as Europe and Australia. She is survived by her husband Ric, her daughter Tara, mother June Magers and brother Jim Magers. Ric and Julie were born in Ohio but chose Fort Collins as their home 30 years ago. Their life together was a wonderful adventure that spanned 42 years and will forever be remembered. A private remembrance will be held on Saturday to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in her name to Defenders of Wildlife.
In 1999 Julie and Ric built a house in the forest of the Rocky Moutain foothills and lived off grid for 12 years. During those magical years they kept a journal. This is one brief entry from that life Julie wrote.
"Hush. Do you hear it? The silence that permeates the forest and envelops each branch, twig and creature. Listen. Breathe. Sigh at the pleasure that nature grants us every day without asking for any return of favor. Now you hear it. Now you feel it. The beat of your heart, the whisper of a breeze, the rhythm of life."
