Hidden under crusty snow white salt on the salt planes of Oklahoma lies a secret treasure. With the hot sun warming your skin and dry wind whipping dig about 2 feet down into the warm sandy mud. Wait a few moments and the hole will fill with water. As you splash the water against the side of the hole you can find selenite hourglass crystals. Found nowhere else in the world these delicate beauties are so much fun to free from the salty earth.

I dream of doing an ethereal photoshoot on these stunning salt flats!

Nothing fills me with more joy than exploring this amazing earth. Driving from Colorado to West Virginia I spent some time scouting out Google maps and found this absolute gem. In the Northern part of Oklahoma there's a lake with salt flats you can drive down. Hot dry wind batters exposed skin and you feel like you're on a different planet. Secrets exist on this barren plane. Put on some old clothes and prepare to get dirty. Stay tuned for what lies under the surface in this unique landscape.

The camera is coming — yes, I see the eye rolls. 😄 But moments don't wait. The candid laugh, the kids in the yard, the quiet glance between two people who've loved each other for decades — blink and they're gone. All you have left is the memory, and if you're lucky, a photo that brings it rushing back.
