⚠️ BEWARE PHOTOGRAPHERS & BUSINESS OWNERS ⚠️
I don’t usually make posts like this, but I felt like I should.
I almost got scammed today, and honestly, it started exactly how a normal client inquiry would.
Nothing felt suspicious at first. They asked about booking a session, asked for my phone number (which didn’t seem unusual since a lot of my clients have it), and I sent my Cash App QR code. She stated she sent the money but it was on hold due to using a business account.
A few minutes later, I received a text saying the payment was “on hold.” Something didn’t feel right, so I asked them to send proof that they had sent the payment. Right away, I noticed the Cash App username in their screenshot wasn’t even mine.
The text I received included a “Cash App Support” phone number, so I called it. Instead of getting customer support, the person on the other end FaceTimed me and immediately asked me to share my screen.
The second they asked me to share my screen, I knew something wasn’t right. I hung up immediately and blocked everyone involved.
Scammers are getting smarter, and I can absolutely see how someone could fall for this. I’m sharing the screenshots so you know what to watch out for.
Please be careful. Verify payments directly through the app, don’t rely on screenshots or texts claiming your payment is “on hold,” and never accept a FaceTime call or share your screen with someone claiming to be customer support.
If this post helps even one person avoid getting scammed, it’s worth sharing.
