In 2018, Lauren was one of a group of three female founders who began to build the Co-Co. 8 years later she continues to call the Co-Co home as a coworker, and I love seeing her when our paths cross at the Summit location. During our photoshoot, I learned about the crazy first years of the Co-Co—so interesting!—and her work now to prepare young scholars for impact as future leaders.

When I photograph clients, I spend the first minutes studying their expressions, learning their movement, and finding the natural details that make them who they are. Lauren’s style and grace always stand out, whether her smile is big or subtle. Thank you, Lauren for your role at the Co-Co and in this first edition of Uncovered.

The print version of the Co-Co Uncovered magazine has launched. I loved everything about this production. There were moments of insanity, for sure, but honestly I miss the pace now that it’s complete. I photographed 42 co-workers for this portfolio–each one given a two-page spread highlighting individual stories and diverging paths. These spreads came together to tell a collective story of women who work and build together.

Each portrait from this five month project deserves a spotlight; I will be uncovering them here each week along with my favorite images you may not have seen.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Co-Co, I landed in this co-working space soon after my sudden move to NJ when I had no studio and no network. It gave me a physical space to work on what would come next, but also gave me my first NJ friends and collaborators. It is a co-working space, but also an incubator.

The cover shoot took place in Florham Park, just a few weeks after the latest Co-Co location opened its doors. Chosen for the cover were:
A writer
A photographer
A corporate manager
A nonprofit founder
A CFO
A content creator.

These women were asked to represent the diversity of professionals who hang out and move forward at The Co-Co.
