Michael L. Redding Photography

Michael L. Redding Photography A native of the Shoals, I have studied photography in one form or another since the early 90's. I use everything from modern digital to vintage film cameras.

I love meeting and working with new and interesting people. Let's shoot something! I first picked up a camera to shoot reference images for my drawings and soon discovered a new love for everything photography! With my limited resources and experience, I practiced and studied photography. I bought books, shot hundreds of rolls of film, took night classes. I consumed any bit of knowledge I could fi

nd. Photography had become my passion. In college, I continued to learn to photograph and print in various film formats and sizes. I practiced and developed my personal style of photography. I quickly adopted digital photography and learned, both in and out of school, how to effectively and beautifully edit digital photos. I love photography and would love to be your photographer!

If I'm going to teach someone the basics of photography, we're gonna learn BASICS!

The first "real" camera I was exposed to was a K-1000 similar to this one. I borrowed it from a family member to take reference photos for drawings.

This is what is known as a "gateway drug" for a very expensive addiction.

I recently acquired this one from E-bay and I can't wait to drive my kid crazy with it this summer!

He DID ask for it!

I've played around with AI a little. I don't care for it. If I hand over my editing to a computer, is it even MY art anymore?

I don't believe so.

Others may disagree, but I want my images to reflect my own time and attention. I also get a lot of ads for photo retouching services that I never use.

Maybe the algorithm knows more than I do.

Whatever...

I usually post a much more tightly cropped version of this picture but, what the heck, it is Fishnet Friday after all!

If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that I absolutely LOVE these deep, dark black and white images. In the art world it is referred to as "chiaroscuro" which Merriam-Webster defines as "pictorial representation in terms of light and shade without regard to color". I feel like nothing evokes a mood quite as powerfully and it seem to fit my particular style of shooting so well!

Do I shoot in color? Of course! Do I love those images? Of course!

But this is the root from which I've grown. The absolute basics of capturing the interplay of light and shadow will always be the best foundation.

May we all continue to develop our skills in whatever practice we pursue!

I'm a photographer, but not necessarily a commercial photographer. I will do bo***ir photos for people, but I don't have published "rates".

When I'm contacted about my rates, I ask what they're looking for. Are you providing a location? Are we shooting in the studio? Do you want to shoot in a rented location like an upscale hotel? I can work with all of these, but they won't cost the same.

I've never cared for the term "bespoke", but it fits in this case. Each session is different. Tell me what you want and we'll figure out a price.

In the meantime, I'll keep shooting what makes me happy.

So, yeah, I've done some bo***ir photography.

It was kind of an easy detour from doing nude/figure photography. The styles have similar poses and settings, just different "wardrobes".

There's a lot more editing involved with it, though. Photoshopping out tags or digitally repairing a torn section of fishnet or lace takes a lot more time than just adjusting exposure.

At least the scenery is nice.

P.S. - I don't get the opportunity to break out these old film cameras very often. This old Mamiya RB67 weighs a ton!

Here's a cat.

In all honesty, I'm slowly running out of things to post that won't get me in trouble with the bots here.

I've spent a lot of time photographing beautiful, barely dressed women. I was told that content wasn't fit to be "recommended", so I toned it WAY down in an attempt to get back in their good graces.

For whatever good it does.

If the whole point of this platform is "reach" and I only reach the same five people, I could just as easily text my images to those people. I probably wouldn't even need to censor them.

By the way, even when I don't POST naughty images, I certainly do SEE the ones other accounts post.

Should I start taking it personally?

Anyway, enjoy the cat.
