It has been a long time since I’ve posted and even longer since I’ve taken my camera out for a walk. Last week the Mid-Autumn / Harvest Moon finally lured me out to take a pause from life and just be in the moment. 🌕🎑🌲📷

Join me at Coconino Center for the Arts on January 18, 6–8 PM for The Golden Mean opening reception featuring a live and online art auction! I have work included in this unique fundraiser exhibition that supports both and local artists. The show showcases works by over 60 talented regional artists, all inspired by the Golden Ratio. Bidding levels follow the Fibonacci Sequence, with artists receiving an increased percentage with each higher bid. 🐚

I will have three works available as matted and framed 8”x13” pigment prints on fine art paper, Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 (“Infinite Shoreline”) or Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic (“Milky Way & Sunflowers” & “Night Glow Piñon Pine”). ✨Please note that the actual works do not have the spiral overlay shown here in the smaller images✨

Lowell Observatory is celebrating the grand opening of their new Astronomy Discovery Center! We went during the member preview and were thoroughly impressed! I loved that the educational exhibits were interactive and visually beautiful, blending art and science 🎨🔭🤩 The new center also includes a children’s area, a theater, a rooftop open air planetarium, a cafe, and gift shop. The beautiful new gift shop is where you will find some of my night sky photography prints, along with the work of other local photographers. A big thank you to Lowell Observatory for supporting local artists! 🙏✨

I will also have a handful of smaller dark skies themed prints and notecards available in the tents outside - stop by for art, music & snacks! ✨🎨✨

Here’s my contribution to our collective northern lights experience - a view of the peaks from the ski hill 😊 I hadn’t expected it to be visible here in Arizona, but then I saw my feed blowing up with everyone’s photos, so we made a last minute decision to drive up the mountain on Friday night to see what we could see. Unfortunately, there were too many clouds, but I was still in awe of the colors I was seeing through my camera! The bit of faint green to the far left of the peaks was the only thing that was visible to the naked eye, and I only saw it as a hazy patch of white. The peaks and the green patch were too far apart so I had to stitch a panorama to get it all in one image. Wish I could’ve seen the aurora with a clear sky, but the clouds added some drama of their own, and I came home very happy! 😍 ✨

Don’t forget to check out the Phoenix Airport Museum’s Night Vision exhibition, located at Terminal 4, Level 3, through June 23rd! I finally made it out there this weekend to see my photography piece, “Milky Way and The Peaks”, 20”x16” print on aluminum (was difficult to get a good pic because of plexiglas shield & reflections). I was also delighted to see works by fellow Flagstaff artists George Averbeck, Dawn Sutherland, and Joe Cornett in the exhibition! ✨

Looking back on 2023, there were many wonderful moments, but one of my favorites was the recent sale of an original painting - “Monument Valley Approach”, 2018, gouache and wax crayon. I’m thrilled that it found a good home, and thankful to R&A Auto for supporting local artists through their waiting room gallery! 🙏🥰🎉
