🎉 FIVE YEARS OF BLP 🎉
Five years of witnessing fathers hold back tears as they see their little girl in a wedding dress.
Five years of grandparents squeezing hands a little tighter, knowing how precious these moments truly are.
Five years of laughter that echoed through reception halls, happy tears that stained makeup, and embraces that lingered just a second longer because no one wanted the day to end.
When I first started this business, I thought I was building a photography career. What I didn’t realize was that I was building a life centered around preserving what matters most.
Five years ago, the version of me who started this business had absolutely NO idea what she was doing. To be honest, some days I still have no clue what I’m doing. In 2020, I had just graduated college during a global pandemic. In 2021, I finally walked across the stage a year later than I was supposed to.
The world felt uncertain, and honestly, so did I.
The people closest to me knew I was still trying to find my footing. I was carrying grief from losing my grandfather. I was carrying the heartbreak of tragically losing an old friend. I was navigating the reality of watching someone so close to me battle addiction.
And like most twenty something year olds... I was also trying to figure out who I was and where I was supposed to be heading.
There were a lot of things I wasn’t sure about back then. But for some reason, THIS was never one of them.
Even in the moments when I doubted myself, I always knew this is truly what I was meant to do. Because the truth is, photographs become more valuable with time.
Long after the flowers have wilted.
Long after the music has stopped.
Long after the cake has been eaten.
The photographs remain.
Maybe that’s why this work has always meant so much to me.
Life taught me at a young age that nothing is ever promised to us. That time moves faster than we think it will. That sometimes the people we love are gone before we’re ready.
And that ordinary moments often become the ones we wish we could revisit most.
Photographs become reminders of voices we wish we could hear again. People we wish we could hug one more time. Moments we never realized would someday mean absolutely everything to us.
And for the last five years, l've been trusted with the incredible responsibility of preserving those memories.
The love. The chaos. The joy. The people. The story. The feelings.
To every couple who has welcomed me into one of the most important days of their lives... thank you. Thank you for trusting me with your memories. For allowing me to witness your stories.
Thank you for making this dream possible.
Five years later, I still cry during parent dances. I still get excited every time I pick up my camera. And I still believe that the most ordinary and mundane moments often become the most treasured ones.
If the 23 year old girl who nervously launched this business could see where we are now, I don't think she'd believe it. But I do think she'd be proud.
