You might notice that there are new letters in my page header next to my photo. I recently finalized my animal imagery accreditation through AIM (Animal Image Makers). I am now an Accredited Professional of Animal Imagery (APAI). What does that mean?

APAI designated photographers maintain professional standards, keep pace with new developments in the industry, consistently produce the highest quality work possible, and use continuing education to better themselves and their business.

Accreditation recognizes the highest level of artistic performance and excellence in the pet and animal imaging field, encourages artistic growth, and ensures a consistent level of imagery which clients can expect from APAI photographers.

I am excited to showcase this achievement, which was based on my work in the industry and my dedication to pet and animal photography!

If you haven't noticed, I am celebrating "clients who come back" as part of this month's postings. Clients return because they are satisfied and comfortable with the experience. They are also highly valued by me, because I like to build relationships that last over time, not just take photographs.

Another example of clients who valued professional expertise, guaranteed satisfaction and returned to the experience, include this lovely family who started out with a full family session which included their pet, then rescheduled when it came time for high school senior photographs for their handsome son.

From High School Senior photos to college graduate (Elementary Education) to headshots for her resume, this beautiful young lady has already given me a heads up for down-the-road engagement and wedding coverage. As her Mom says "you make her feel so comfortable." Music to my ears, as I strive to make every session easy, comfortable and successful.

One of my most favorite things to do is to see families return year after year for photographs. Building a relationship with family clients is important to me. I love to see the kids growth spurts every year and the new additions. I have been working with this particular family for the past three years. They value documenting their time together and purchasing quality wall art to showcase in their home. From creating a business Christmas card to creating all of their holiday cards throughout the years, it's been a special pleasure to work with this very loving family. I feel honored. I can't wait to see how much the kids have grown this year!

I've been summering. Doing all summery things as fast as I can cram them in, because we lived through an old-man-winter Winter, and I could not get into summer fast enough. I have even made time to do some of the things I like best, like photographing butterflies, birds, bees and flowers. Plus visits with grandkids, taking care of the farm, and scheduling clients along the way.

I haven't shared much during that time, but stay tuned because I will be updating this page more often, highlighting some of my client work, as well as the work I presented into competition this past summer.

In the meantime, one week ago today I spent the afternoon photographing riders at a local dressage show. It was a beautiful sunny day, and nice to see dressage in our area again. Here are some of the results. Enjoy!

Did you know that blue jays can mimic the sound of other birds, most often hawks? This particular one sits on a branch near our feeders and makes his hawk sounds so all the feeder birds scurry away, then swoops in to fill his appetite. The only bird that seems to have his number is the grosbeak, who refuses to leave the feeder no matter what. Captured these images the other day when I ran out without any shoes because I thought a hawk was after our chickens.
