no. 05771 handsome color litho card featuring a view of the Witter Springs Resort in Lake County. One of the county's many mineral spring resorts, it was located on the west side of Bachelor Valley. The card was produced by the M. Rieder company of Los Angeles and mailed to a small town in the NE corner of South Dakota 115 yrs ago. Author Clare expresses regret about not being able to give Celia a proper goodbye:

"Hello: Celia: - I can
hardly realize that you are
way back in So. Dak, a -
gain. I expect it is even hard
for you to believe it at times.
I was so sorry that I did
not get to tell you good-bye
when you passed thru Oak-
land. How are the babies?
No doubt you and & Lydia have
big times together now. I fear
she will spoil the youngster.
Lots of Love
from Clare."

Eureka's Union Labor Hospital was completed in 1909.

The Union Labor Hospital Association filed articles of incorporation with the County Clerk on March 6, 1905, with the purpose of “acquiring and conducting a hospital and sanitarium and manufacturing and dealing in drugs and medicines”. The Hospital began operating on April 1, 1906 and was originally located and operated from the Loheide building on 5th and B streets. Months later, a $50,000 capital improvement campaign was begun to find a site and construct a new building. Paid for through contributions by union workers, by early 1908 er****on of the new hospital building was underway on a property in (block 20 of) the enlargement of the Prairie Addition. The building was later enlarged and would become the County General Hospital. It still stands today and has served as the home of the Humboldt County Planning & Building Department and Sempervirens for many decades.
