Each year, I get the opportunity to photograph several events for AFR, including their Youth Summit. This July, I watched these five young campers stand up, give their speeches, and work hard to earn the votes that would make them the next AFR Youth Council.
And Friday, I got to photograph them again—but this time, as the council I watched be elected. 🥹
These kids are everything you hope to see in the next generation of agriculture. They’re kind, outgoing, hardworking, and natural leaders among their peers. They put in the work, stepped outside their comfort zones, and earned the opportunity to spend the next year serving the AFR organization and the youth around them.
As a photographer, getting to document that journey is such a cool part of what I do. I’ll get to see them again at conference in February, and then back at Youth Summit next July, where I’ll watch a new council be elected and another group of young leaders begin their year of service.
Getting to photograph the moments is one thing. Getting to watch these kids grow into the people they’re becoming is something really special. 🌾🤍
