Lookie what I found this morning (Sept 21)! While I've often seen Pileated Woodpeckers before, this is my first decent shot of one so I just had to share. It was digging around in the rotten log looking for goodies in a neighbor's front lawn. Quite cooperative.

Happy World Photography Day!

I know I haven't posted many photos lately but it doesn't mean I haven't been shooting... just way too busy to process and post much. In celebration of World Photography Day 2026, I thought I'd post this photo taken in July this year. If you look closely there are 2 bees sharing this flower -- a big one on the left and a lot smaller one on the right. No competition between them. No bullying by the big bee. Harmony. Too bad we all can't live like that.

I'm participating in this show next weekend (Aug 14-16). I plan to make this my LAST outdoor-multi-day art show! From now on, it will be Farmers Markets, indoor Arts & Crafts shows and galleries/stores only. If you are in the area, please stop in and say "hi".

The 8th edition of the 2 volume "Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness" guide books (formerly known as the "Beymer books") is now available. These books have been my main "go-to" when planning my BWCA trips over the decades. Invaluable for preparing for a trip to the wilderness.

My photos are featured on the cover of the Western Region volume and throughout the pages of both books. :D

I'm planning to be at the Ely Farmers Market again this summer, starting next Tuesday. So looking forward to the expanded hours! I have a few new products this year (still featuring my photography) including color changing mugs, luggage tags, magnets, wind spinners & more -- in addition to the usual prints, note cards, coasters, mugs, cutting boards, etc. Hope to see you there if you happen to be in Ely!
