Some of the greatest gifts we receive in life aren’t things we can hold, but memories we get to carry forever. 🕊️
My grandpa gave me one of the greatest gifts anyone could ever leave behind: the gift of memories.
Through his photographs, his stories of Vietnam, and the pieces of his life he shared with me, he gave me something that time could never take away.
And then there was one last recording. His voice wishing me a happy birthday.
Every single year, I listen to it. And every single year, I wish I could hear those words from him in person just one more time.
It’s strange how something so ordinary at the time can become one of the most priceless things you have left.
As I celebrate another year of life, there’s not a single birthday that goes by without me thinking of him. The older I get, the more I understand just how precious those moments were.
Today, I’m sharing a little piece of him with the world. Not just because I miss him, but because I want others to understand the importance of preserving memories while we still have the chance.
Take the pictures. Record the voices. Listen to their stories. Ask questions about their lives. Hold on to those little moments.
Because one day, those memories may be all you have left of someone you would give anything to see again.
Grandpa, you gave me the gift of memories, and now I get to share a piece of yours with the world. 💛🌻
I miss you every year. And I’ll love you for all the years I have left.
